Here to Stay – Design Trends for 2023
From creating a home office with a roomy desk to furnishing your flex room with key pieces of furniture like a sofa sectional,
a chair that transitions to a bed, and more, these are the trends that will take us through in 2023.
Over the past few years, most people have spent more time at home, allowing us to reimagine our spaces both functionally
and aesthetically. Things we may have overlooked (hello, well-worn sofa and outdated armchair) now inspire us to make changes
to create living spaces that are not only pleasing to the eye but comfortable as well.
As we dive into the new year, here are some trends that are here to stay. And we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.
Work It

Pre-pandemic, dedicating an entire room to a home office may have been considered an extravagance. But as more and
more people continue to work from home either full-time or part-time, a space to tackle your workday is now a necessity.
But a home office doesn’t have to take on an all-work, no-play persona. A functional and beautiful space is essential to
creating a calm environment so that you can focus on the task at hand.

Bold in presence, a piece like the Harper Point Writing Desk will give your Zoom background a major upgrade.
With an elegant fossil finish, the expansive desktop floats on a gunmetal frame.
The minimalist design includes two drawers to keep office essentials close at hand yet neatly tucked away, while the
pullout keyboard drawer in the center keeps your desktop free from clutter. Best of all, this desk is finished on all sides
so that it can float in the center of a room for flexibility in placement.
Multitasking MVP

As more and more people are looking to double their options in a single space, “multifunctional” has become the
buzzword for 2023. And the buzziest place of all is your living room.
Once reserved solely for entertaining guests, living rooms are now the hub of the home. From creating a spot where
family and friends can get together to carving out a space for a homework station, this hardworking room has become
a master at multitasking.
Versatile pieces that create clever combinations for a range of needs like the Sophie Sofa Table will soon
become indispensable.
With clean lines and softly rounded corners, this console fits neatly behind your sofa or sectional. You can use it to
display framed photos and decorative objects, and with the included stools, it can also serve as an impromptu
desk for bill-paying or study sessions.
Modular seating, like our Asher Sectional, offers a highly customizable option to configure your space however you like.
A sectional like this is also perfect for breaking up an open floor plan, such as a living room/dining room combo. An open
design allows for easy exits and offers the perfect flow for maneuvering around the room.
Knock on Wood

Taking a departure from all-white furniture, stained wood is another big trend we’re seeing this year, with mid-tone
taking the lead. Popular in the ’70s, this wood tone is warm and welcoming. It’s also surprisingly neutral, mixing and
matching easily with just about everything from a dark leather sofa to a light slipcovered armchair.
Crafted of quartered pine and maple veneers with a rich, dynamic brown finish and burnished details, the Sundance Buffet
captures the look beautifully. Retro-inspired shutter-like doors give it a California casual aesthetic, bringing to mind t
he iconic Pacific Coast Highway and the Malibu landscape.
Behind doors with touch latches and soft-close hinges, you’ll find two self-closing drawers and shelves for storing serving
essentials. One drawer has a removable drop-in felt liner, and the other has a removable felt silverware tray. There are
two adjustable shelves behind the right door, too.
Layered Looks

Forget those Pinterest-perfect rooms and austere interiors that are meant to be admired rather than lived in. Cozy
spaces full of depth and character are here to replace them and can easily be achieved through an intentional layering
of meaningful objects.
Start from the ground up with an antique rug passed down by your grandmother. Fill a bookcase with first editions
and collectibles. Layer your lighting through a mix of table and floor lamps, sconces on the walls and a chandelier
or pendant overhead.
Perfect for displaying treasured keepsakes, the Windermere Etagere is designed with eight open-air shelves in an alabaster
finish that are encompassed by a sleek and soft gold metal frame. This bookcase has enough presence to stand on its own
but also looks impressive in multiples for a continuous display.
We also love the concept of the Capris Chair and 1/2. With room for two, it offers plenty of space to layer on color and
pattern with decorative pillows or a comfy throw. It converts into a twin-sized bed for an overnight guest, circling back to
the idea of rooms that can serve more than one purpose.
