A Variety of Furniture Solutions to Hide Cords and Electronics

Clever Furniture Solutions to Hide Cords and Electronics

In today’s electronic age, there is an increased usage of electrical-dependent devices. All of these compounds use electricity, which increases the number of cords and cables in every room. Don’t worry, furniture designers are keeping up! They are adding electrical outlets and charging stations to various furniture including desks, living room tables, bedside tables, and more. We don’t expect you to buy new furnishings for all the rooms, but besides furniture, Matter Brothers Furniture has some advice on how to handle cords and cables.

Furniture That Contains Electrical Outlets

For the home office — Desks have been adapted the most to meet today’s needs. Many are now available with surge protectors or other electrical outlets built into them. Likewise, printer tables may come equipped with an outlet, as may some file cabinets and bookcases.

For the bedroom — Many of us cannot sleep far away from our cell phones anymore. Some bedside tables are now designed with charging stations built in for phones and tablets. They may also have outlets for a table lamp.

For the living room — Entertainment centers are a hub of electronically-generated devices. As such, these centers now also have multiple outlets with wiring needing only one plug.

More for the living room — Coffee and end tables have plugs for lighting and charging stations.

Clever Ways to Hide Electrical Cords

Actually, the point is not only to hide electrical cords but to provide safety from them as well. Here are a few clever ways to do both:

Cord covers/protectors — There are a variety of products that can combine and cover cords as they travel to an outlet. Some are decorative in their own right, while others are aimed at blending in with counters or the flooring. These work well in kitchens, as well as offices and living rooms.

Cable concealer kits — These work especially well for television cords along with cables and recording devices to minimize cords on free-standing TV stands, and/or wall-mounted sets.

Cable/cord management boxes — Designed in a variety of colors, as well as bamboo and wood, these boxes collect all cords and plugs together in a ventilated, covered box designed to hold a multiple-pronged surge protector or plug converting to one cord leading to the outlet.

Clips and staples — Binder clips can be used to gather cords and clip them along the side of a desk and down the leg closest to the plug. Likewise, a staple gun can work similarly, concealing the cord under the desk and along the leg.
